slaves/esclavos

When we are slaves to worry,
Our Most Blessed Virgin Mother
Leads us into the Presence of Jesus,
The only One Who can free us.
And when our loved ones are enslaved by fear,
The prayerful encouragement of Our Lady
Helps us to be a Saint Peter Claver for them.
Hail Mary, full of grace
The Lord is with thee
Blessed art thou among women
And blessed is the fruit of thy womb,Jesus.
Holy Mary, mother of God
Pray for us sinners, now,
And at the hour of our death. Amen
Amen

Discernment: to Jesus through Mary

Our Pastor asked us to pray for an increase in Catholic vocations:
Priesthood
Religious Vocations
Marriage
Single Life
Lay Associates
May we imitate Mary in following Jesus:
"Come Holy Spirit,
Come by means of the powerful intercession
of the Immaculate Heart of Mary
Thy well beloved Spouse"
Prayer by Father Gobbi (1930-2011)

Student"s Prayer

Creator of all things, true source of light and wisdom,
Origin of all being
Graciously let a ray of Your light
penetrate the darkness of my understanding.
Take from me the double darkness into which I have been born~
the obscurity of sin and ignorance.
Give me a keen understanding, a retentive memory,
and the ability to grasp things correctly and fundamentally
Grant me the talent of being exact in all my explanations
and the ability to express myself with thoroughness and charm.
Point out the beginning,
direct the progress and help in the completion.
I ask this through Christ, Our Lord.
Amen

Joyfully Imitating Mary's Obedient Trust

In the timely sunlight of Our Eternal Father's perfect will
and in the unwavering showers of Jesus' mercy and love
our souls are filled with the fruits of the Holy Spirit:
Charity, Joy, Peace, Patience, Kindness, Goodness, Long Suffering, Mildness, Faith, Self Control, Modesty and Chastity.
"O Blessed Saint Joseph,
faithful guardian and protecor of virgins
to whom God entrusted Jesus and Mary
I implore you by the love which you did bear them
to preserve us frm every defilement of soul and body
that we may always serve them
in Holiness and purity of love." Amen

Our Blessed Mother Always Hears Our Prayers

Remember O most gracious Virgin Mary, that never was it knwon
That anyone who fled to thy protection,
Implored thy help or sought thy intercession
Was left unaided.
Inspired by this confidence we fly unto thee
O Virgin of Virgins our Mother.
To thee do we come, before thee we kneel, sinful and sorrowful.
O Mother of the Word Incarnate, despise not our petitions.
But in thy clemency hear and answer them.
Amen

The Last Supper

"On the night of that last supper
Seated with His chosen band
He, the Paschal Victim, eating,
First fulfills the Law's command:
Then as food to all His brethren
Gives Himself with His own hand.

Word made flesh the bread of nature,
By His words to flesh he turns:
Wine into His blood He changes
What though sense no change discerns.

Down in adoration falling
Lo, the Sacred Host we hail,
Lo, o'er ancient forms departing
Newer rites of grace prevail;
Faith for all defects supplying,
Where the feeble senses fail."

(From: Pange Lingua Gloriosi, written by Saint Thomas Aquinas thirteenth century)

Discarded

Several years ago, I came across a discarded book. Its crumbling cover and pages were worn. The binding was flimsy. As I gently turned the fragile pages, I was at once overcome with awe at the Christ filled beauty within, and shocked that this neglected treasure might have ended up in the trash!

I decided to learn more about the priest who so carefully compiled the prayers and meditations. Reading these pages opened a miraculous window in my life as a lay Catholic woman. I have since enjoyed many of his other books, which never fail to enhance my gratitude for our Catholic faith.

¡Muchísimans Gracias~Dios te Bendiga!
